Fukuoka City Zoo and Botanical Garden

Fukuoka City Zoo and Botanical Garden occupies the wooded hills of Minami Park, close to central Fukuoka. One admission ticket covers both the zoo and botanical garden, which are linked inside the grounds.

Hours and admission
The grounds normally open 9:00–17:00, with last entry at 16:30. They close on Mondays, or the following weekday when Monday is a public holiday, and from 29 December to 1 January. Admission is ¥600 for adults and ¥300 for high-school students; junior-high-school students and younger children enter free.
Getting there
City buses stop at Dobutsuen-mae. The zoo can also be reached from Sakurazaka or Yakuin-odori subway station by walking or transferring to a bus. The site is hilly, so allow more time than the map alone suggests and choose your entrance according to the area you want to see first.
Parking
Car parking costs ¥500, but spaces are limited and often fill on Sundays, public holidays and popular seasonal dates. Public transport is recommended when possible.
