Nomiyama Kannonji Temple

Nomiyama Kannonji is a Shingon Buddhist temple in Sasaguri and the 16th temple of the Sasaguri Shikoku pilgrimage. Its wooded mountain setting is especially popular for autumn foliage, while cherry blossoms and hydrangeas provide other seasonal reasons to visit.

Visitor information
Address: 227-4 Hagino, Sasaguri, Fukuoka. The grounds normally open 6:00–17:00. The main telephone number is 092-947-4423 from 9:00 to 17:00. The temple remains an active place of worship, so follow signs for photography and restricted areas and avoid interrupting services.
Getting there
From JR Sasaguri Station, the temple is about 15 minutes by car or taxi. A worship bus from Sasaguri Station normally runs on the third Sunday of each month and for four major seasonal observances. By car, allow about 20 minutes from either the Fukuoka or Wakamiya interchange.
Plan for the mountain setting
The precinct is spread over slopes and steps. Wear shoes with grip, allow extra time during the autumn-leaf season and confirm the special bus timetable before depending on it.
