Onga District

Onga District comprises the towns of Ashiya, Mizumaki, Okagaki and Onga in northern Fukuoka. It stretches from communities along the Onga River to the coast around Ashiya and Okagaki, offering beaches, parks, cycling routes and everyday town life within reach of Kitakyushu and Fukuoka.

Coast and river
Ashiya has a broad beach, coastal walking and cycling routes and views around the river mouth. Okagaki also faces the sea, while Mizumaki and Onga provide useful stops along the river and JR corridor. Swimming seasons and outdoor facilities should be checked separately.
Getting around
JR Kagoshima Main Line stations serve Mizumaki, Onga and Okagaki. Ashiya's coast requires a local bus, taxi or car from a nearby station. A car is convenient for linking coastal spots, parks and restaurants across different towns.
Planning a visit
Wind and weather strongly affect the coast. Check beach, pool and event dates before travel, and confirm the last bus when visiting Ashiya without a car.
