Shiraito Falls (Itoshima)

Shiraito Falls is a 24-metre waterfall in the mountains of Itoshima and a designated scenic site of Fukuoka Prefecture. Hydrangeas usually colour the area from mid-June to early July, while yamame fishing and flowing-somen experiences are offered seasonally.

Visitor information
Address: 460-6 Shiraito, Itoshima. The recreation area normally opens 9:00–17:00, extending to 18:00 in July and August. It closes on Wednesdays from December through March. Activity dates and prices vary, so confirm them before travel.
Getting there
By car, it is about 20 minutes from the Maebaru interchange. The main free car park has space for about 200 vehicles but can fill on summer weekends. From JR Chikuzen-Maebaru Station, take the Shiraito community bus, then walk uphill for about 25–30 minutes.
What to bring
The trail can be wet and uneven. Wear shoes with grip, carry water in summer and allow extra time for the infrequent return bus.
