Yabegawa Headwaters Park

Yabegawa Headwaters Park is a mountain riverside park upstream from Hyugami Dam in Yame. Its Fureai River Pool uses the natural flow of the Yabe River, offering free summer water play rather than the controlled conditions of a conventional swimming pool.

Season and facilities
Yame City states that the river pool can be used after maintenance following the end of the rainy season, but does not publish fixed annual opening and closing dates. Admission is free. Water depth is about 80 centimetres to one metre, with shallower play areas, toilets and parking for roughly 30 vehicles. Changing rooms and heated showers are not listed.
Safety
Children of elementary-school age and younger must be accompanied by an adult. The pool cannot be used during rain or when the river is swollen. Mountain water remains cold even in summer; enter gradually, take breaks and use secure water shoes. Adults should stay within reach of children at all times.
Getting there
The park is at Kitayabe Onizuka in Yabe Village, Yame. Driving is the practical option because public transport is limited and mountain roads continue beyond Hyugami Dam. Confirm same-day conditions with Yame City's Yabe branch before making a long trip, especially after rain.
